We stayed in the cabin for 6 nights and had a nice time. Sun Valley Lake is a very scenic and beautiful area. We loved the lake. Our kids enjoyed the canoe and paddled around for hours. The fishing is good and the stocked trout that we caught were all 15+ inches. Lots of wildlife around the lake. We saw elk, moose, muskrats, osprey, white pelicans, and more. The cabin is rustic but comfortable and has everything you need to cook / grill meals. Plenty of hot water. Even had a TV with the Olympics on it. Downtown Grand Lake is conveniently only 5 minutes away. The owner is nice and will help you out if you need anything.

While not fancy by any means, this cabin was wonderfully relaxing and perfect for a casual girls' getaway. The location is perfect. On a private lake, close to the town of Grand Lake, lots of hiking opportunities. Great that the hosts provide a canoe and rowboat for use.
Great location, close to the National Park. Cabin had everything we needed.

This place was perfect for us as a home base to hike the west side of Rocky Mtn NP. It is 5 minutes from the west entrance, and 6 minutes from the town of Grand Lake. The host is very nice and loaned us anything we needed from her house. This place is a real log cabin, and is clean and well stocked. I will definitely stay there again.

We loved our stay at the cabin and found everything we'd hoped for: comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen to allow us to prepare some ambitious meals, and peaceful surroundings. We also appreciated Shawn's permitting us a late check-out and overall helpfulness. We enjoyed Grand Lake, the Hot Springs and hikes in RMNP. We hope to go back next year too!
Can't beat the location. Literally 5 minutes from the west entrance of RMNP, and an easy drive in to Grand Lake for food and fun! Cabin was cozy, easy to find, and we loved having the boats for the pond.
The cabin looks just like the picture but the pictures don't do it justice!! There are no pictures of the bathroom but it's not bad..I wondered how it would be. She provided towels which were very useful and the water pressure is great! We were a little late for check in but I just kept her updated and she came over and met us shortly after we arrived. She is a very sweet lady and because I had been asking about so many details such as how close other cabins were and how close to the lake the cabin was she came to check in to make sure we liked it. It was so perfect for what we were looking for. It is close to cabins but not as close as others we looked at and the back porch is pretty private. We had our coffee on the back deck in the mornings and watched wildlife! Between the lake, the property, and the land you drive going into town you get to see wildlife and it is very close to hiking trails and the other bigger lakes. We caught many rainbow trout on the private lake that it is on. The canoe is very nice to have! There are only 2 life jackets which was perfect for just us and you have to take your own fishing rod and equipment if you plan to fish.
Nice older cabin with a rustic feel..

Shawn's property is absolutely breathtaking. If you want to hike Rocky Mountain National Park then this is the place to stay, you can access trails on foot just a block from this cabin.. the the town of Grand Lake is about 4 miles away and is also a lovely little town with great food. Shawn is great and has wonderful communication. I would certainly stay there again!
